Water rationing to continue: MCC Commissioner

Mangaluru, May 27, 2023: City Corporation Commissioner Channabasappa has said that the water rationing introduced in the MCC limits will continue for another one week. Presently, water is supplied to Mangaluru and Suratkal areas every alternate day.

He said so at the MCC meeting on May 26, Friday when ruling and opposition members discussed water supply issue and the shortage that has cropped up in many places.

Members also complained that proper desilting works have not been done in side drains to avert artificial flooding during rains.

Some members urged for adequate supply of water through tankers.

Mayor Jayananda Anchan said all measures are being taken to ensure the water problem does not aggravate. He said water from the AMR Dam has been pumped to Thumbay. Additionally 160 MLD water from Harekala dam is being lifted everyday, he informed.
