Veerendra Heggade pledges support to Cauvery protest; says it should be peaceful

Belthangady, Sep 13,2016 : Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala who has pledged his support to the ongoing fight against the injustice done to the state with regard to the Cauvery river water sharing issue, has at the same time urged the activists to resort to peaceful means of protest without causing any damage to private or public properties.

Veerendra Hegge Speaking to reporters at Dharmasthala on September 12, Monday, Heggade said all Kannadigas should unitedly join hands in the fight for the cause and stressed the need for a non-violent means of agitation.

Continuing, Heggade shunned the notion that the people of Dakshina Kannada were not supporting the cause of Cauvery.

At the same time, he pointed out the dearth of water flow in Netravathi river and said though the river used to get flooded at least five to six times during a year in the past, that was not the case now. He also urged people to use water judiciously.

The people of DK should also show their support . Injustice is done to Karnataka in case of Cauvery and to DK in case of Netravathi

Water woes in the sate is horrible. Why are we not concerned about our own problems? Our people are struggling and our politicians and the supreme court have agreed to share water with TN .

We have to how our protest against TN . The politicians have to go through the problem faced by the State then come to a conclusion. If we we have excess the case is different but now our farmers and the people are facing a lot of water woes and how can we compromise for sharing water.

Being a resident of Karnataka it is our right to support the cauvery issue. As Netravathy is the Life line of DK . Cauvery is the right of people of Bengaluru and neighboring cities
