Mangaluru, April 5, 2026: Christians across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts gathered in large numbers at their respective parishes on Saturday to observe the Easter Vigil, marking the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the culmination of Holy Week.
At Rosario Cathedral in Mangaluru, the solemn vigil was led by Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, with a significant turnout of the faithful.

In his Easter 2026 message, Bishop Saldanha called for peace, dialogue and reconciliation amid rising global conflicts and divisions. Extending greetings to all, he described the Resurrection as both a cornerstone of Christian faith and a continuing source of hope for humanity.
Highlighting growing unrest and violence worldwide, the Bishop urged people to embrace the message of the Risen Christ as a path to peace through mutual understanding and dialogue. He appealed for harmony across religions, communities and families, stressing that peace must begin in everyday relationships.
“Let this Easter mark a new chapter in our lives,” he said, praying for a world uplifted from sorrow and despair into lasting peace and fulfilment.
He concluded by invoking God’s blessings on all and wishing the community a grace-filled and joyful Easter, while reiterating his call for unity, compassion and reconciliation.
