Belthangady, Oct 18, 2013: Various association including DYFI, JMS, Bharat Prajasathmaka Yuvajana Federation and other associations staged a protest demanding CBI probe into Sowjanya rape and murder case in front of Taluk Office, Belthangady on October 18, Friday.
Addressing the protestors, CPI(M) state secretary Shivarama Reddy said that the association has gathered and staged hunger strike on her birthday to demand justice for Sowjanya’s family.




He also said that even after a year of Sowjanyas rape and murder, the officials have failed to investigate and arrest the real culprits, hence the case must be handed over to CBI.
Reddy also said that the ministers who took part in the public meeting called by Dharmastala Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade on October 16 at Belthangady, must give the reason for their participation in the meeting.
He also said that CM Siddaramaiah is not making any effort to provide justice to sowjanya’s family. He also condemned the statement given by former Union Minister B Janardhan Poojary on Sowjanya case.
Sowjanya’s father Chandappa Gowda, mother Kusumavathi, uncle Vittal Gowda, DYFI district president Muneer Katipalla, DYFI Mangalore unit Committee president B K Imthiyaz, secretary Santhosh Kumar Bajal, Advocate Vasanth Marakada, DSS district convener Chandu L, Dalit leader B K Vasanth, SFI state Committee secretary Jeevan Raj Kutthar, retired medical officer Dr Harale, journalist Deviprasad, Mangalore corporator Dayanand, Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi and his fan followers and many college students participated at the hunger strike.
