Mangaluru, July 16, 2025: The new team of office bearers of Winners Club Toastmasters for the year 2025–2026, led by President Vani Ummakka, was installed at a glittering function held on Sunday, 13 July 2025, at Hotel Goldfinch, Mangaluru. Dr. Chandini Sreekumar, Professor and Head of the Department of Periodontics at Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangaluru, was the chief guest on the occasion.
“Communication needs to be nuanced so as to foster human relationships and establish a productive and peaceful society,” emphasized Dr. Chandini Sreekumar, while sharing instances from her experiences as a mother, wife, and college professor. In her address, she stressed the importance of maintaining civility and courtesy in communication, even in this age of rapidly evolving technology.
Toastmasters Area Director Dr. Bharathi Shetty administered the oath of office to the new team of office bearers for 2025–2026, led by President Vani Ummakka. The team includes Shivani Baliga (Vice-President–Education), Brian Fernandes (Vice-President–Membership), Anusha Rashmi (Vice-President–Public Relations), Sofia Rego (Secretary), Saurav Baliga (Treasurer) and Matharani Mathais (Sergeant-at-Arms).
Outgoing President Praveen Pinto thanked his team and club members for their cooperation during his tenure. In her acceptance speech, Vani Ummakka expressed her vision and goals for the club during her term.
Samina Nayak introduced Dr. Bharathi Shetty. Sofia Rego rendered the invocation. Brian Fernandes welcomed the gathering, and Matharani Mathais presented the annual report highlighting the achievements of the club during the past year. Bharathi Shevgoor introduced the chief guest and also presented an innovative concept of passing on the baton from the outgoing team to the new, keeping in mind the theme “All Things Coffee – Brewing Confidence, One Speech at a Time,” on which the programme was based. Shivani Baliga introduced Vani Ummakka to the audience.
Urmila Shetty proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Anusha Rashmi and Saurav Baliga served as the masters of ceremonies.
