Chikkamagaluru, July 9, 2025: The district administration has imposed a one-month ban on the entry of Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sharan Pumpwell into Chikkamagaluru district. Deputy Commissioner Meena Nagaraj has issued an order prohibiting his visit to the district until August 4.
“There is an intelligence input that some organisations are planning to bring Pumpwell to the district to hold public meetings. He is known to deliver provocative speeches that could possibly disrupt law and order. More than 22 cases have been registered against him in various parts of the state," said the order.
Based on a report submitted by the SP, the DC passed an order prohibiting his entry into the district.
Sathish Poojary’s entry to Udupi banned
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T K has issued an order prohibiting the entry of Satish Poojary, a rowdy-sheeter from Davanagere, into Udupi district from July 7 to September 7. The preventive order, aimed at maintaining peace, was passed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
There are 19 criminal cases registered against Poojary. Intelligence inputs revealed that he had been secretly invited as a speaker to a protest scheduled near the deputy commissioner’s office in Manipal on July 7.
The protest, led by Rajesh Uchila, the coordinator of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike, is said to have been organised to oppose the "anti-Hindu policy" of the government. It is suspected that Poojary’s participation in the protest might incite tension.
It is also suspected that he might have been invited to deliver provocative speeches during the Ganesh Chaturthi and Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. Following a report by SP Hariram Shankar, the DC issued the order.
