Uppinangady, June 8, 2025: A private bus traveling from Bengaluru to Mangaluru overturned near Barchinahalli on National Highway 75, within the Uppinangady police station limits, in the early hours of June 7. The accident occurred when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leaving over 16 passengers injured.


Bus Overturns near Uppinangady


The bus was carrying more than 30 passengers at the time of the incident. Among the injured were Fahad (20) from Moodbidri, Ramzeen (25) from Farangipete, Ummar (53) from Deralakatte, Tamim (19) from Puttur, Isham (19) from Salmara in Puttur, Rukmaya (24) from Uppinangady, Jahir (23) from Salethur in Bantwal, Shameer (28), Ansar (26) from Vittal, Somashekhara (55) from Dasarapura in Bengaluru, Sharath (35), Dr. Mahant Gowda (47) from Nelamangala, Simack (23) from Sampya, Abdul Razeed (38), Pauzil (23), and Altaf (28) from Kaikamba in Moodbidri. Several others reportedly sustained minor injuries.

Local residents quickly came to the rescue, helping to shift the injured to a private hospital in Nelyadi for first aid. Some were later referred to hospitals in Puttur and Mangaluru for advanced treatment.

Police from the Nelyadi outpost inspected the scene and are investigating the incident.
