Expert PU College honours teachers on Teachers’ Day 2026

Mangaluru, Sep 6, 2026: Expert PU College, Kodialbail, celebrated Teachers’ Day 2026 with a programme honouring the dedication and contribution of its teaching fraternity.

Dr Ravish Thunga, President of Dr Thunga’s Manaswini Hospital, was the chief guest and was conferred the title ‘Teacher Exemplary’ in recognition of his commitment to nurturing and inspiring young minds.

Beginning his address with “Gurubhyo Namaha”, Dr Thunga appreciated the college’s teachers for their role in shaping students in a changing world. He urged students to pursue their goals with passion, effort and perseverance. “IQ is nothing if you don’t put effort in your life,” he said, stressing the importance of responsibility, family values and purposeful action.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute to Dr S. Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day in India. Students then presented Guru Vandana, invoking the Sanskrit shloka “Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnu, Gurur Devo Maheshwara.”

Chairman Prof. Narendra L. Nayak described dedicated teachers as a “real asset to society” and expressed pride in the teaching team at Expert. Recalling his long association with Dr Thunga, he also acknowledged the contribution of Dr Thunga’s Manaswini Hospital to mental healthcare in Mangaluru.

Emphasising discipline as the foundation of success, Prof. Nayak said, “The core mantra is to be disciplined in life.” He credited the achievements of Expert students in medical and government institutions to the collective efforts of teachers and students. He also encouraged students to remain lifelong learners, noting that “the best way to learn is to teach.”

Vice Chairperson Dr Ushaprabha N. Nayak said teaching was “not just a profession; it is a lifestyle.” Recalling the teachers who influenced her own journey, she told students that while one may retire from a profession, “one can never retire from being a student.”

She highlighted the preparation and responsibility involved in teaching and urged students to respect their teachers by listening attentively, completing assignments on time and acknowledging their efforts.

Coaching Head and Kannada Lecturer Karunakar Balkur shared his experiences as a teacher and appealed to students to understand and value the dedication and sacrifices of their teachers. He urged them to make the best use of the opportunities provided by the institution, work hard and strive for excellence.

Expert Educational Institution has completed 40 years in the field of education and has focused on providing quality education while helping students pursue their academic and career aspirations.

The programme was compered by Khushi Singh and Shreya Hegde. Student Council President Sairaj K. Ghogare delivered the welcome address, while Secretary Priyaana P. Bekal proposed the vote of thanks.

Principal Ramachandra Bhat, College IT Director Ankush N. Nayak, Architect Deepika A. Nayak, Academic Committee Member B. Vinay Kumar, Assistant Coaching Head Pramod Kini and members of the teaching and coaching staff attended the programme.

The celebration concluded by highlighting the enduring role of teachers in shaping students’ confidence, values and future beyond classrooms and examinations.
