KSRTC Bus Gutted in Fire Near Ermayil; 37 Passengers Escape Unhurt

Subrahmanya, Sep 6, 2026: A KSRTC bus travelling from Kukke Subrahmanya to Bengaluru was completely gutted after catching fire near Ermayil on the Subrahmanya-Gundya State Highway on Saturday night.
The bus, belonging to the BC Road depot, was travelling to Bengaluru via Hassan when the driver noticed smoke coming from the vehicle. Acting swiftly, he stopped the bus, alerted the passengers and evacuated all 37 passengers safely.
The fire spread rapidly and engulfed the entire bus shortly after the passengers were evacuated.
Local residents and officials rushed to the spot and attempted to douse the flames. However, the bus was completely destroyed in the fire.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
