DC Office Complex Inspected for Sept 18 Cabinet Meeting in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Sep 6, 2026: District Minister U T Khader, accompanied by senior government officials, inspected Praja Soudha, the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex at Padil, on Sunday as part of preparations for the state Cabinet meeting scheduled to be held in Mangaluru on September 18.

Khader said Chief Minister D K Shivakumar had expressed a desire to hold the meeting at a government institution and the DC office complex was being considered as a suitable venue.

The meeting will be attended by the Chief Minister, Cabinet ministers, his advisors, the Finance Secretary and other senior officials. Other officials will participate based on the subjects listed for discussion, Khader said.

He added that local MLAs and other stakeholders would be consulted to prepare a list of development projects and demands concerning Dakshina Kannada and the coastal region. The proposals would subsequently be placed before the Cabinet.

Arrangements will also be made to accommodate ministers and senior officials arriving from outside the district. The meeting aims to give the government a better understanding of the region’s development needs, Khader said.

Khader Defends CM’s Aerial Drought Survey
Responding to opposition criticism of Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s aerial drought assessment, Khader said an aerial survey provided a comprehensive view of the extent of damage.

He urged the opposition not to politicise disasters and relief measures, stressing that the government’s priority was to address people’s difficulties and provide relief.

Khader also called for cooperation between the ruling party and the opposition in the interest of the people and the state’s development.

On former minister B Nagendra’s resignation, Khader said the government had maintained a clear and transparent position and remained committed to protecting public interest. He said Nagendra had resigned on moral grounds and could return if he received a clean chit.
