Uppinangady: A fun swim turns tragic; high school boy downs in Netravathi

 Puttur, Dec 13, 2013 : A high school student met a watery grave while making merry in the Netravathi river along with his friends  at Uppinangady on December 12, Thursday afternoon.

boy downs Netravati 1The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Mubarak(14), a class nine student of the High School section of the  Uppinangady Government Pre-University College. He was the only son of Abusali, a farmer in Adekar of Hirebandadi village.

The mishap took  place when the boys had  been to the river in the afternoon. Their school was celebrating  it s annual sports meet that day. It is learnt, the boys had gone against the directive of the teachers who had warned them not to go to the river banks.

Though  two labours loading sand who were nearby, immediately plunged into the river and tried to rescue  Mubarak, he had breathed his last by the time he was rushed to the hospital.

Uppinangady police have registered a case.
