Ullal: Body of missing Konaje resident found in Someshwara lake

Ullal, Mar 11, 2026: The body of a youth who had gone missing after leaving for work has been found in the Someshwara lake on Wednesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Vivek Shettigar (32), son of Dinesh Shettigar, a resident of Muchilakodi house in Konaje village.

According to sources, Vivek’s body was found in the Someshwara lake. It is learnt that on the day he went missing, his scooter was found parked near the Someshwara Rath Kothadi. His mobile phone and slippers were also found there, after which he was reported missing.

Sources said that Vivek Shettigar had divorced his wife about eight months ago.

According to the complaint, Vivek was working at Veda Mortars company near Kadri in Mangaluru. He would leave for work at around 11 am every day and return home by 9 pm. Accordingly, on March 9 he left for work at 11 am. At around 9.30 pm, he called his mother and informed her that he was going to a temple and might return home late, asking her not to wait for him.

However, when he did not return home even by midnight, family members tried calling his mobile phone, but he did not answer. When they tried contacting him again on March 10, his phone remained unreachable. Later, when they contacted the company where he worked, they were informed that the company was closed that day.

As the family could not get any information about Vivek from relatives or acquaintances, they lodged a missing complaint at the Konaje Police Station. Accordingly, a missing person case (No. 21/2026) was registered at the Konaje Police Station, and police had begun an investigation.
