Udupi, Sep 28, 2025: Dinesh Bovi, a cyclist from Hallihole near Kamalashile, Kundapur, returned home after completing a 3,300 km Udupi–Ladakh journey over 11 months to spread the message of environmental conservation.
A former student of Milagres College, Kalyanpur, Dinesh was felicitated by his alma mater on Saturday. The event was attended by Malpe PSI Anil Kumar, retired professors, alumni representatives, and teachers’ association members.
Beginning his ride on October 15, 2024, Dinesh reached Ladakh on September 15, 2025, after covering eight states. Delays due to road closures in Kashmir extended the trip to 330 days.
The expedition, costing around ₹1.5 lakh, was supported by donors and alumni, coordinated by college principal Vincent Alva, who also provided a cycle and guidance.
A rescued dog, Charlie, joined Dinesh at the Karnataka–Goa border and completed the 326-day journey alongside him.
Dinesh, who has earlier undertaken long-distance walks and rides, credited his success to the encouragement of Alva and the support of his family.
