Udupi, July 7, 2025: A case has been registered at the Malpe police station in Udupi after a woman was allegedly cheated of thousands of rupees while trying to purchase a fishing net online.

Fraud

The woman from Kodibengre had booked a fishing net through an online platform. Following this, an unidentified person contacted her claiming to arrange the delivery of the net and asked for payment. Between July 2 and 4, the woman transferred a total of ₹41,250 in multiple instalments.

However, the accused neither delivered the fishing net nor refunded the money, leading to a complaint being filed for fraud.
