Mangaluru, July 6, 2025: In a major breakthrough in the Puttur student pregnancy case, police arrested Krishna J Rao, the main accused, in Mysuru on Saturday. His father, Jaganivasa Rao, was also taken into custody the same day for allegedly helping his son evade arrest.
Krishna had been absconding since June 24 after a case was filed against him, triggering a state-wide manhunt. Police finally traced him to Mysuru, where he was apprehended.
Following his arrest, investigators detained his father on charges of sheltering and aiding the accused in fleeing from police. Both are currently in custody as investigations continue in the high-profile case that has drawn significant public and media attention.
