Udupi, Feb 18, 2026: Miscreants allegedly broke into a government high school in Kedur and vandalised school property over the weekend.

According to a complaint filed by Geetha (51), the in-charge headmistress of the Government High School in Kedur, she had locked the school premises at around 5 pm on February 14 after classes ended. When she returned and opened the school gate at about 8.30 am on February 16, she found that unidentified persons had trespassed onto the campus.

The miscreants reportedly smashed the glass of the school notice board and entered one of the classrooms, where they pulled down banners fixed to the walls. A matchbox and tissue papers were also found inside the classroom.

Further, taps in the boys’ washroom were removed, and a steel handwashing sink was taken out and thrown into the middle of the school ground.

Based on the complaint, the Kota Police Station have registered a case under Section 324 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 2 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act (PDLP Act).

Police said further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
