They said that apparently the MLA is involved with the act, but is feigning ignorance. Deviprasad Shetty, JD(S) district president, felt that the issue should be investigated as it is a matter of public interest.

“Bhat is not a common man. As he is in a respectful political position, he is expected to behave more responsibly. His deed, which has blemished the value-based political scenario of the region, has put everyone to shame especially all the politicians,” the party said in its petition.

“Bhat has always been in the midst of one or the other controvercy. He is linked with his wife Padmapriya’s death, Malpe rave party, and illegal occupation of 110 acres of KIADB denotified land in Nandikoor village. JDS leaders want to know the whole truth behind the CD in question like when it was captured, where it happened, who were the persons behind it, and who is the woman involved, etc," the leaders stressed.

JDS leaders, Shalini Shetty Kenchanur, district vice president, and leaders like working president, Gulam Muhammad, Annaiah Naik, Jayakumar Parkala, Vishwanath Belapu and Vasudev Rao were present.

A petition was later submitted  by the leaders to to district deputy superintendent of police, Prabhudev Mane.
