Udupi, Dec 24, 2025: Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of the Udupi Diocese extended warm Christmas greetings to the people and urged them to celebrate the festival in its true spirit by embracing love, light and harmony.

In his Christmas message, the bishop described Christmas as the heartbeat of God’s love and an outpouring of divine compassion for humanity. He said the festival signifies God’s incomparable love, through which He offered His own Son to the world, and called upon people to reflect that love in their lives by sharing Christ’s message of compassion and affection with others.
Quoting noted poet G S Shivarudrappa, Bishop Lobo highlighted the significance of light in human life, stating that Christmas marks the arrival of light amid darkness. He recalled that when darkness enveloped the world, the light of Christ was born on Christmas night, inviting humanity to walk in the light and become members of the Kingdom of Light.
Referring to Jesus as the Light of the World, the bishop said Christmas dispels darkness and showers human life with love. He prayed that Christ may be born in the hearts of all, inspiring people to cast away selfishness and hatred and to live in unity, brotherhood and mutual love.
Concluding his message, Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo wished everyone a blessed Christmas and a peaceful New Year, expressing hope that the festival would inspire lives rooted in love, peace and compassion.
