Mangalore, Aug 20, 2011: The city is getting ready to celebrate Shri Krishna Janmashtami, which is just a day away. Janmasthtami has been greatly popularized by temples, schools, and organizations, owing to which almost every toddler or young child will be dressed up as Shri Krishna in homes.

The Shri Krishna Janma Mahotsava Samithi will organize the 42nd Shri Krishna Janmastami and Mosaru Kudike at Kadri on Aug 21 and Aug 22. The idol of Shri Krishna will be taken in a procession from Shri Jayamurthi Bhajana Mandira to Shri Gopalakrishna Mutt near Kadri Kambala on Aug 21. Devotees will offer bhajans at 8:00 p.m. and a mahapooja will be held at 12:00 noon.

Mosaru Kudike will be held at the Rajangana of Shri Manjunatha Temple at Kadri on Aug 22. The idol of Shri Krishna will be taken in a grand procession from Shri Gopalakrishna Mutt to Rajangana at 6:00 p.m.
92.7 BIG FM Mangalore will broadcast Shri Krishna Life Story, comprising the story of the childhood of Lord Krishna, the story of Udupi Shri Krishna, and many more stories from Aug 20 to Aug 22 by Paryaya Shri Shri Laxmivara Theertha Swamiji of Udupi Shri Krishna Mutt during its Suprabatha hour from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Celebrations in Udupi
The widely acclaimed Shri Krishna Temple in Udupi is getting reading to celebrate Janmashtami grandly. The celebrations will be held on Aug 21 – 22.
Paryaya Shiroor Mutt Seer Shri Laxmivaratheertha Swamiji said that a 10-day religious and cultural programme, which will include a wide range of competitions, cultural events, religious discourses, and painting exhibitions, has been organized. On Sunday, a folk sports meet will also be organized.
The seer will also release a documentary on the importance of cows called “India in Cow” on this occasion. On Aug 21, the competitions will be inaugurated and the Shri Krishna Janmashtami Awards will be given away.
The highlight of the event will be a presentation by Shivamani, the internationally acclaimed drummer and his troupe.
The chief religious event on Janmashtami will be an offering of milk and water, which will be made to a specially prepared idol of Lord Krishna at midnight. Vittal Pindhi, the celebration of the childhood of Lord Krishna, will be held on the following day. The idol of Shri Krishna will be taken on a grand procession in the afternoon, accompanied by a number of folk art and cultural groups and tiger dance groups.
