Mangaluru, May 27, 2026: The Dakshina Kannada Automobile & Tyre Dealers’ Association (DKATDA) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Management and Commerce (IMC), Srinivas University, Mangaluru, at a function held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Hotel Srinivas, Mangaluru.
The MoU was signed with the objective of promoting industry–academia collaboration and creating greater opportunities for students to gain practical exposure to the automobile trade and allied sectors. The partnership will facilitate student internships, industrial training, guest lectures, workshops, entrepreneurship development programmes, research activities, consultancy and industry interaction initiatives. The agreement has been signed for a period of three years.



Conducted under the theme “Building Partnerships, Driving Excellence,” the programme began with remembrance of Late Dr. A. Raghavendra Rao, Founder Chancellor of Srinivas University and Founder President of the A. Shama Rao Foundation, recalling his contribution to the fields of education and institution-building.
The programme was presided over by Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Chancellor of Srinivas University. Office bearers of DKATDA present on the occasion included President K. Vilas Kumar, Vice President Harsha Kumar Kedige, Secretary Shashidhar Pai Maroor, and Coordinator T. Rathnakar Pai. Among the university representatives present were Dr. Adthiya Kumar Maiya, Registrar (Academics), and Dr. Ajay Kumar, Registrar (Development).
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Venkatesh S. Amin, Dean of IMC and IPSLM, highlighted the importance of closer cooperation between educational institutions and industry bodies in enhancing student employability and professional skills.
Speaking on the occasion, DKATDA President K. Vilas Kumar said the collaboration would help create better industry exposure and practical learning opportunities for students while strengthening interaction between academia and the automobile trade. Representatives of both the University and DKATDA emphasized the growing need for stronger industry–institution partnerships in the context of changing technologies and evolving business practices in the automobile sector.
