Puttur: Police conduct flag march ahead of Eid Milad, step up security

Puttur, Aug 24, 2026: Puttur city police conducted a flag march on Monday as part of heightened security arrangements ahead of Eid Milad, aiming to reassure residents and maintain peace during the festival.

The police have made elaborate arrangements to prevent the forcible closure of shops and commercial establishments during Eid Milad. While many businesses are expected to remain closed voluntarily, police have warned that no one will be allowed to forcefully shut shops or establishments.

Regarding the recent clash in Puttur, police said they have registered a suo motu case and issued notices to those concerned. Rejecting allegations that the case was being handled lightly, police said such claims were “far from the truth”.

Police said notices had been issued in several previous cases as well, without considering caste, religion or political influence. They also urged people not to believe rumours and said anyone seeking clarification could approach the police directly.

78 police personnel, nine platoons deployed

Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place within the Puttur City Police Station limits for Eid Milad.

The deployment includes one additional superintendent of police, one deputy superintendent of police, eight police sub-inspectors, 10 assistant sub-inspectors and 50 police personnel.

In addition, five KSRP platoons, three DAR platoons and one SF platoon have been deployed to maintain law and order during the festival.
