Twenty ordained as Deacons in St Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu

Mangalore, June 15, 2012: Twenty young men have been ordained as deacons at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Jeppu, of who five are from Mangalore Diocese, six from Kannur Diocese, one from Calicut Diocese, three from the Carmelite congregation, two from Betharam Fathers, one from Shimoga Diocese, one from Gumla Diocese, and one from Jashpur Diocese. 


During the diaconate ordination, Fr. Joseph Martis, rector of the seminary, presented the young men to Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop of Mangalore Diocese. The bishop then instructed the candidates and urged them to do the will of God. The aspirants then pledged that they would lead a life of obedience and celibacy. The bishop then laid his hands on each candidate and presented them the Gospel.

The Holy Eucharist was then celebrated, after which the newly ordained deacons were felicitated. A number of priests, nuns, seminarians, friends, parents, and relatives were present. 


The newly ordained deacons are Mahesh D’Souza, Deepak Leo D’Sa, Amith Prakash Rodrigues, Rohan Lobo, and George Jeevan Sequeira of Mangalore; Christopher Moxy Kanari, Stanly Linto, George Jerry Oliparambil, Suneesh Joseph Puliyankil, and Victor Vimal of Kannur; Tony Gracious Nevez of Calicut; Prakash D’Cunha, Richard Menezes, and Joyson Saldanha of the OCD; Mathew George and Livin Fernando of SCJ; Pius Carmel Mani Prabha D’Souza of Shimoga; Fulgece Phulgames Soreng of Gumla; and John Crus Minj of Jashpur.
