Three Arrested for Theft from Donation Boxes in Bantwal

Mangaluru, Aug 3, 2025: The Vittal police have arrested three youths for allegedly stealing cash from donation boxes belonging to a place of worship in Kanyana, Bantwal taluk.

The accused have been identified as Twaheed (19), Ummar Farooq (18), and Mohammad Nabeel (18), all residents of Vittla Kasaba village, police said.

According to the complaint filed by D Narayana Rao (72), president of the place of worship and a resident of Delantabettu, two roadside donation boxes near Delantabettu school were found forcibly broken open and the contents missing. The theft came to light during his routine collection of offerings on July 26.

Police estimate the stolen amount to be between Rs 12,000 and Rs 15,000.

A case has been registered at Vittal Police Station under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway.
