Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Dec 7, 2025: In the National Herald case, the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has served a notice on Mangaluru-North Congress leader and KPCC secretary Inayat Ali, asking him to appear for questioning.

The notice was issued following an FIR registered by the EOW on the basis of a complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The FIR also names senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Earlier, notices had been issued to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and his brother, MP D.K. Suresh, in the same case.

Police said the notice was served at Inayat Ali’s residence in Mangaluru, directing him to appear before the investigating agency within a week. He is said to have business links with D.K. Shivakumar.

According to sources, Inayat Ali has been under the ED’s scanner for several years in connection with the National Herald case. As part of the ongoing probe, the EOW has now sought information on his personal background, political associations and financial transactions, including details of donations allegedly made to the National Herald organisation.

Inayat Ali, who contested from the Mangaluru North constituency in the last Assembly election and was defeated, has been asked to submit relevant documents and clarify how the funds were provided and whether he is aware of their end-use.
