Tax compliance necessary for financial stability – IGP Prathap Reddy

Mangalore, Feb 25, 2012 :Prathap Reddy, the inspector general of police (western range), said that being tax compliant gives people the opportunity to create financial stability in the country. He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Central Excise Day on Friday.


Further speaking, he said that the public should cooperate with the police, excise, and customs departments as they are not only regulatory departments, but also contribute greatly to national growth.

Addressing the gathering, Sandhya S. Pai, the managing editor of Taranga, said that people pay taxes out of their hard-earned money and they have the right to know if the tax money is being utilized in a proper manner.

M. V. S. Choudhary, the commissioner of the Central Excise and Service Tax Commissionerate, spoke about the various achievements of the commissionerate.

Gishelle Mehta, the former central excise commissioner, was honored on this occasion for her literary achievements. Excise officers who received presidential awards—Shrinivas Nayak, the central excise superintendent, and Ramakrishna K., the intelligence officer of the department of revenue—were also honored on this occasion and so was Dinesh Kumar, the central excise inspector who also happens to be a national-level athlete.

Classic Fusion of Mangalore and Meta Bottling of Puttur were also honored with awards on the occasion.
