Surathkal, Oct 24, 2025: A late-night stabbing incident near the Kana petrol pump in the Surathkal police station limits left one person seriously injured and another with minor wounds after a four-member gang allegedly attacked them with a knife on Thursday night.
The victims have been identified as Nizam (23), a resident of Chokkabettu, and Hasan Murshid (18) of Krishnapura Hill Side.
Nizam sustained a serious abdominal injury and was initially treated at a private hospital in Mukka before being shifted to another private hospital in Mangaluru for advanced care. Murshid, who suffered minor stab injuries, is being treated at a Mukka hospital.
According to reports, the victims were part of a group of five friends travelling on two motorcycles toward Krishnapura. When the vehicle carrying Nizam and Murshid ran out of fuel, they stopped by the roadside while their friends went to fetch petrol from a nearby pump.
At that time, four unidentified men approached them from near a bar and reportedly asked, “Do you know Haneef?” An argument ensued, leading to a scuffle during which one of the attackers stabbed the victims before fleeing the scene.
Surathkal Police Inspector Pramod Kumar and his team visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and recorded statements from the injured at the hospital.
Police said a case is being registered at the Surathkal Police Station, and the assailants have been identified as known rowdies — Gururaj, Alex Santosh, Nithin, and Sushanth.
