Mangalore, August 22, 2013: The parents of Sullia’s ragging victim Prithvin has lodged a complaint with the District Superintendent of Police on August 22, Thursday seeking justice to her son.
As already reported, senior students of KVG Polytechnic had brutally ragged Prithvin, a first year computer science student on the night of August 20. Following the complaint lodged with the police on August 21, ten students had been arrested.
Meanwhile, there were reports that the victim was being pressurized to withdraw the complaint. Sources said the College Principal too had pressurized for withdrawal of case failing which the student would be suspended from the institution.
The victim says he continuously pressurized until his parents arrived on Wednesday.
10 polytechnic students arrested on ragging charges
Sullia, Aug 21, 2013: In a case of alleged ragging, Sullia police have arrested ten senior students of the KVG Polytechnic on August 21, Wednesday.
As per reports Prithvin, a first year Computer Science student from Mysore was ragged by some senior students namely Kaushik, Karthik, Sachin, Bhavan, Ganesh and a few others on August 20, Tuesday night.
It is learnt they physically assaulted him and Prithvin had to be admitted to hospital for treatment. It is learnt Prithvin has lost several teeth in the assault. His parents too have rushed to Sullia on gathering information about the brutal assault on their son.
It is learnt, Prithvin had initially told his parents that he was injured as he slipped in the hostel, but later when the pain was unbearable he informed his parents about the ragging. Reports say the senior students woke him up and took him out. Later they threatened him of dire consequences if he divulged the issue.
