Students in Mangalore demand CBI probe into Sowjanya case

 Mangalore, Oct 19, 2013 :  The All College Students  Association staged a protest in front of the DC office in Mangalore on October 18 demanding a CBI probe into the Sowjanya rape and murder case. The protest was organised to commemorate the 18th birthday of Sowjanya. Students also paid respects to the departed soul of Sowjanya by lighting candles.

 Dinaker Shetty, President of the All College Students Association  said the student community will continue its fight for justice for Sowjanya. He said till date the government has not conceded to the demands of the student community  to offer a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the family of Sowjanya and also to hand over the case to the CBI.

Strongly condemning the allegations hurled against Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade family in connection with the case, he said the case should be handed over to the CBI before evidences get destroyed.

 Several students took part in the protest.
