Case Registered Against 10 for Alleged Abetment of Youth’s Suicide in Udupi

Udupi, November 1, 2026: Udupi city police have registered a case against more than 10 people for alleged abetment of suicide following the death of Pradeep, a youth who died by suicide at the Ajjarkad District Hospital on October 30.

The case was registered based on a complaint filed by his brother, Dileep Kumar of Perdoor. The accused include Shravya Shetty, Prasanna Shetty, Sudheer, Shailesh, Shashank, Krishna, Sujaya, Sanath, two migrant workers and others.

Pradeep Suicide in Udupi

According to the complaint, Pradeep had been in a relationship with Shravya for eight years. On October 27, he was allegedly intercepted by a group of people in three cars while returning home to Nairkodu. He was reportedly taken to Shravya’s house, where he was assaulted with a cane and wooden logs, sustaining injuries.

Pradeep was admitted to Ajjarkad District Hospital on October 28. He reportedly informed his brother about the assault and alleged threats issued by the accused.

On October 30, at around 5.30 pm, Pradeep was found dead in the hospital washroom. Following his death, police registered a case of abetment of suicide against the accused. Further investigation is underway.
