State has not used half the funds allotted by centre – KPCC President Parameshwar

Mangalore, Jan 9, 2012 : Dr. Parameshwar, the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), said that around half the Rs. 66,000 crore allotted by the central government for state programs when B. S. Yeddyurappa, the former chief minister of Karnataka, was in power have not been utilized.

Speaking at a press meet held just before the Congress Party meeting in Shanti Kiran in Nantoor on Jan 9 Monday, he said that D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the current CM, said at a meeting held in Bangalore that 50 percent of the allotted funds have not been utilized in the ZPs of 18 districts.

Accusing the state government of being responsible for not utilizing these funds in state programs, he said that the state’s financial status has collapsed and that collection of revenue has not been done properly.

Further, he said that the state government’s sole objective in organizing the Global Investors Meet was to deprive farmers of their property through land acquisition procedures.

Stating that 30 illegal ration cards have been distributed in the state, he said that this proves the government’s inability to properly administer the state and its failure to take appropriate action against CEOs, DCs, and others responsible for the distribution of illegal ration cards.


Madhusoodhan Mistri, the general secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), said that not a single Congress MLA will join NCP. Complaining that the state government demands more funds instead of utilizing sanctioned funds, he said that the state government must produce a utility certificate the allotted fund before requesting additional funds from the state government.


Regarding the hoisting of the flag of Pakistan on a government building in Bijapur, he said that six Shri Rama Sene activists were responsible for this act and that they had confirmed under police interrogation that they were directed by the RSS.


Congress leaders Vinay Kumar Sorake, Oscar Fernandes, MLA Abhayachandra Jain, and B. Janardhan Poojary were also present.
