Heavy rains finally lashed the city for over an hour in the evening that held office-goers and passengers in rain at peak hours, but enjoyed the cool rains nevertheless. Also, a public meet that was organized by SSF at Nehru Maidan here was disrupted.

A traffic booth located near city police commissioner’s office toppled due to the strong wind which was accompanied by thunder and lightning. The motorists had an agonizing time riding and driving through roads splashed with the first rains. As soon as it began raining, power supply was disrupted in various parts of cities.

Along with the disruption, rain also brought a new hope to sort out the water crisis in the city. The municipal council has been judiciously supplying drinking water to the people in the city limits every alternative day, as the water level in Thumbay dam has been depleting since a few weeks threatening acute water shortage.
