Mangalore, Dec 21, 2011 : Shifani D’Souza, a student of Little Flower Higher Primary School in Bajpe, has bagged the third prize in the Late Charles and Theresa Rodrigues Memorial All India Konkani Poetry Writing Competition conducted by Kavita Trust. The first and second prizes have been won by Anisha Naik Gaonker of Holy Cross School in Goa and Daniel Fernandes of St. Antony’s Institute in Goa.
Seventy nine students from Karnataka and Goa participated in the competition, which is the first of its kind held for students from VI Std to X Std. The first prize comprises Rs. 2000, a memento, and a certificate; the second prize comprises Rs. 1000, a memento, and a certificate; and the third prize comprises Rs. 750, a memento, and a certificate.
Anisha has written a number of poems, and her prize winning entry titled “Mon Mhojem” is on the thoughts of child. Daniel’s prize winning entry is titled Faleamcho Surio, and Shifani D’Souza of VI Std wrote a poem about the moon.
Anisha, being the first prize winner, is now eligible to participate in the multi lingual poetry session, which will be held at Kavita Fest next year.
The competition is being sponsored by Melwyn Rodrigues in honor of his late parents.
