Shalini Shetty murder case; Husband to move HC for justice

Mangalore, Oct 8, 2013: Taranath Shetty, who found his wife murdered in their flat in Nallasopara in Mumbai on May 3, 2011 night has sought justice in connection to the murder.


Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on October 8, Tuesday, he said that he had married Shalini (30) daughter of Anni Shetty from Perindile Mane in Laila village in Beltangady taluk on May 7, 2009. Shalini was found dead on May 3 at night, when he returned home after work and she was pregnant with four and half month.

He also said that after filing the FIR, the police was finding difficult to trace the culprit. But when he revealed his suspicions on Ninjur Ashok Shetty, his relative, who had visited their house a few days before her death, the police made an investigation into the case.


Police who kept a track on Ashok’s every movement had even traced his phone calls and based on the proof, Ashok was arrested from his wife’s house located near Maripalla of Farangipet on June 2011.


During the interrogation, Ashok Shetty had confessed about the crime committed for jewelry and fled with Shalini’s some ornaments.


Tharnath said that after visiting the Vasai Session court for several times in a year, I was sure of getting justice to Shalini’s death, but I was broken completely, when Justice R N Joshi had given a verdict of no evidence to the murder and freed Ashok Shetty.


Further, he said to approach the high court to seek justice for his wife’s murder.


Shalini’s Shetty’s uncle Anand Shetty, brother Janardhan Shetty, niece Jayashree, Taranath Shetty’s brother Shekar Shetty were present at the press meet.
