Senior police officer’s wife threatens traffic cop for issuing parking ticket

Mangalore, November 27: The wife of a senior police officer abused a traffic policeman for giving her a parking ticket, and the senior police officer threatened the traffic policeman over the phone.

Kumar, the traffic policeman who was thus abused, has lodged a complaint at the Kadri Police Station, in which he stated that Yeshwanthpur Police Inspector Ganapathy threatened him for issuing a ticket to his wife. He has also accused the officer’s wife of abusing him in public and of obstructing a public servant in discharging his duty.

Kumar was on duty at Balmatta Circle when he saw the car parked in a no parking zone and promptly issued a ticket to the driver, who happened to be the wife of Mr. Ganapathy, a senior police officer, who was recently transferred to Bangalore. An enraged Mrs. Ganapathy began abusing Kumar and later, her husband called him up and threatened him over the phone.

The matter has now got the attention of Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh. Reliable sources have revealed that Mrs. Ganapathy is known for habitually violating traffic rules and has already been issued 3 tickets.

The police commissioner assured Mr. Kumar that he will investigate the matter and take action.
