DC Subodh Yadav said that sand miners will receive temporary licenses for sand mining because the implementation of the new sand mining policy will require a minimum of 45 days. However, sand miners are prohibited from mining in the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and from using machinery for sand mining, cautioned the DC.

Meanwhile, the district administration raided several illegal sand mining spots in Ulaibettu, Adyar, Barimar, and Polali and seized five loaded and six unloaded sand lorries. The trucks are now being held by the respective police stations and the department of mines and geology has lodged FIRs.

The Konaje police have lodged an FIR against five people involved in illegal sand mining activities at Harekala and Pavoor. They said that one unloaded and 4 loaded trucks were seized in connection to this case.
