Kundapur, Feb 16, 2026: Kundapur Rural Police have arrested a man who had been absconding for a long time and was allegedly involved in multiple criminal cases across the state.
The arrested accused has been identified as Shashank Shetty (32), son of Shekhar Shetty, a resident of Saukuru Alwar House in Gulwadi village of Kundapur taluk. He was also known by the names Shashikiran, Kiran Shetty, Rakesh, and Shashi.
According to police sources, a total of 11 cases have been registered against him at various police stations. Of these, seven cases were registered at Kundapur Rural Police Station, and one case each at Hebri, Kalaghatgi, Kota, and Chandra Layout Police Stations in Bengaluru. The charges include theft, robbery, and honey trap-related crimes.
Police stated that 12 warrants had been issued against the accused. However, he had been evading court appearances and had been absconding for nearly four years. Continuous efforts were made during this period to trace and arrest him.
On February 15, 2026, acting on credible information that the accused was present at Bidkal Katte in Kundapur taluk, a police team conducted a swift operation and took him into custody.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Superintendent of Police H.D. Kulkarni and Circle Inspector Santosh A. Kaikini. The team was led by Kundapur Rural Police Station Sub-Inspector (Law and Order) Nasir Hussain and Sub-Inspector (Investigation) Chandrakala M. Pattar, along with Head Constables Raju B. and Guru Prasad, and Police Constables Kiran B. Patil and Chandra Shetty.
Police said the accused will be produced before the court.
