Mangalore, August 24: The people belonging to Mogaveera Community have gathered on the banks of Tannirbavi Beach on Tuesday, August 24 to worship the sea by offering fresh milk, tender coconut and fruits.

The ‘Samuhika Samudra Pooja’ was organised under the leadership of Shri Raja Sandhyanathji of Kadri Temple On Tuesday morning. A procession from Shri Brahma Bobbarya Daivasthana Bokkapatna to Tannirbavi has been organized, where the fishermen from coastal region have carried fresh milk and Coconut to the sea shore and performed the pooja with the presence of Swamiji. Swamihji who has offered poojas to the sea god on this occasion prayed for safety of all those who participated in the Samudra Pooja.

Speaking on the occasion, Nagesh Bolar, Secretary, Mangalore Elu Patna Mogaveera Samyukta Sabha, has briefed the significance of Samudra Puja. This time, the people of Bolar, Hoigebazar, Kudroli, Jeppu Bokkapatna, have gathered here to celebrate the Samudra Pooja. People of this community observe this day as sacred day and worship the sea in a traditional manner. All the fishermen from our community do not go to sea today, he said. It is believed that, if a fisherman offers fresh milk, coconut to the sea, he will not face any problem in the sea.


Devdas Gurikar Jeppu, President, Mangalore Elu Patna Mogaveera Samyukta Sabha, Vasudev Bolar, Secretary, Karnataka Mogaveera Kriya Samithi, Mahesh Kumar, President, Yuva Vedike Jogi Samaja were present on this occasion.
