Sachin Kotekar’s mysterious death – Family claims it is not suicide

Mangalore, June 12, 2012: The death of software engineer Sachin Kotekar (32), who was scheduled to leave for America after a 45-day-long vacation, is shrouded in mystery.

The dead body of Sachin was found at Kumble in Kasargod one day before he was to fly to America. Padil-based Sachin worked as a software engineer in a company in America and had come home on vacation just a month before. On June 10, Sunday, he was scheduled to fly to America through Bangalore; instead, his dead body was found on the Mogral Koppala Beach in Kasargod on the morning of Sunday. His shocked family is unwilling to believe that he committed suicide and feel that he has been murdered. According to the post-mortem report submitted by Periyaram Medical College, Sachin died of drowning.

 

Sachin’s family says that he was so eager to get back to America and had done some shopping with his wife Sushma in Mangalore. According to his family, Sachin would never have gone shopping if he was contemplating suicide. 

 

After shopping, the couple went back to Kumble, where Sushma’s parents lived. Sachin left his wife’s parents house at around 9:30 p.m. saying that he wanted to take  print out of his air ticket and never returned home. When his anxious family called him, his mobile was found to be switched off. They then began searching for him and found his car parked near Koyipadi. His dead body was found half a kilometer from his car.

The Kumble police registered a case, and the body was sent to Periyaram Medical College for post-mortem.

Although the police feel that Sachin might have committed suicide, they haven’t ruled out possibilities that he might have been murdered. The Kumble police say that they will explore various reasons that might have prompted Sachin to take his own life. Sachin had excellent relationships with his wife and parents and none of them believe that he is capable of committing suicide. 

The police are also looking for an unknown car that followed Sachin’s car when he went out to get a print out. Someone informed the police that they had spotted a strange car following Sachin’s car, and the police feel that they can solve the case if they locate this car.
