Mangalore, Jan 25, 2012: Abhishek Goyal, the superintendent of police of DK district, addressing a peace committee meeting held at the office of the assistant commissioner on Tuesday, said that both groups stand guilty of wrongdoing.
Urging the public to help the police maintain law and order, he said that the police never register cases against innocent people, never allow others to influence them, and never book people without evidence.
Dr. N. S. Channappa Gowda, the deputy commissioner of DK, urged people belonging to different communities to work toward the prevention of such incidents. He urged the public to assist the district administration to maintain law and order. He also said that the police are investigating the communal clashes at Uppinangady.
Radhakrishna Bhat, the leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad; Isubu Pedamale, the secretary of the Jumma Masjid; Muralikrishna Hamsatadka, the Bajrang Dal leader; Rev. Fijay Harvin; and many others voiced their opinions on this occasion.
M. N. Anuchet, the assistant SP of Puttur; M. Dasa Gowda, the tahsildar; and Mudraje Sundar Bhat, the assistant commissioner, were also present.
