Puttur: Man held for misbehaving with a female student on bus

Mangaluru, July 23, 2025: An incident of inappropriate behavior occurred on a bus traveling from Mangaluru to Puttur yesterday evening. A man allegedly misbehaved with a female student during the journey. With the help of the public, the accused was apprehended at the KSRTC bus stand in Puttur and handed over to the police. The case has been registered at the Puttur Women’s Police Station.

According to the complainant, the incident took place around 6:30 pm when she was traveling from Mangaluru to Puttur. The man seated next to her misbehaved with her near Mani in Bantwal taluk. She immediately confronted him and informed her father.

When the bus reached the Puttur bus stand, the accused attempted to escape through the emergency exit window. However, the complainant’s father and members of the public quickly intervened and caught him.

The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Touheed from Mangaluru. He was handed over to the Puttur Women’s Police Station. A case has been registered under Crime No. 56/2025, Section 75 of the BNS 2023, and further investigation is underway, police said.
