Puttur, December 25, 2025: In connection with a cash theft case reported at a restaurant in Eshwaramangala of Badagannur village in the taluk, the Puttur Additional Senior Civil Judge and JMFC court has sentenced the accused employee to three years of simple imprisonment.
The accused has been identified as Shivaprasad, a resident of Ivarnadu in Sullia taluk. He was working as a cook at Shanya Restaurant in Eshwaramangala. Between April 21 and 24, 2024, the accused allegedly broke open the kitchen door and stole ₹90,000 in cash kept in a drawer.
The incident was captured on the restaurant’s CCTV cameras, based on which the police detained the accused and registered a case.
Sub-Inspector Sushma Bhandari of Puttur Rural Police Station investigated the case, collected the necessary evidence, and submitted the charge sheet to the court. Public Prosecutor Chetana Devi appeared on behalf of the prosecution.
After hearing arguments from both sides, Judge Devaraj convicted the accused and sentenced him to three years of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹10,000. In default of payment of the fine, the accused will have to undergo an additional six months of simple imprisonment.
