Bantwal: Two arrested in house theft case; gold ornaments worth Rs 2.5 lakh recovered

Bantwal, Jun 4, 2026: Bantwal Town Police have arrested two accused in connection with a recent house theft reported in Bolpady. The arrested individuals have been identified as Prithvi (18), a resident of Baltila in Bantwal, and Kishan (22), a resident of Surathkal in Mangaluru.

According to police, the two were friends and known to each other. The theft occurred in the early hours of June 1 at the residence of Rohini of Baltila village, who was alone at home at the time. A case was registered at the Bantwal Town Police Station following the incident.


House theft-arrest

During the investigation, police developed suspicion about Prithvi, who was related to a family living near the victim’s house. Further inquiry revealed the involvement of both accused in the crime. Police sources said Prithvi, who was familiar with the details of the relative’s house, allegedly planned and executed the theft with the assistance of his friend.

The police recovered 21 grams of gold ornaments worth ₹2.5 lakh and ₹600 in cash from the accused.

The accused were traced and arrested by a team led by the investigating officer, ASI Naveen, along with Head Constables Suresh Kumar, Rajesh, and Rakshith; Constables Basavaraj Kudagunti and Naganath; and women police personnel Revathi, Bhagyamma, and Malashree. Sachin and Uday from the District Fingerprint Unit, and Divakar and Sampath from the District Computer Division, also assisted in the investigation.
