Physical instructor arrested for alleged sexual abuse

Udupi, Dec 3, 2011 : The students of Polipu Government High School and Pre-University College at Kaup went on a strike on Dec 2 Friday demanding justice for a girl student allegedly sexually abused by the school’s physical training instructor, who also recorded the act on his mobile phone and used it to threaten her.

 

Student leaders submitted a memorandum to BEO M. N. Madhyasta, who had arrived at the college to find out what the matter was.

In their memorandum, the students stated that Chandrashekar Adiga of Kundapur had sexually abused a girl student on occasion of the school’s annual day. He had also recorded the abuse on his mobile phone and was now using it to terrify the girl. They urged the concerned authorities to fire the teacher.

Speaking on the occasion, BEO Madhyasta said that he read about the incident in the papers and came to the college to get the facts right. He said that legal action will be taken as per the police report and the complaint lodged by the students and that the wrong doer will be punished. While stating that the students had a good reason to boycott their classes, he also pointed out that they are losing precious class hours. He also urged the students to go back to their classes.

However, a particular group of senior students have begged to differ. They claim that Adiga is being framed by some of his enemies and have urged that the police should investigate this case thoroughly and find out the truth.

The Kaup police have registered a case. Accordingly, Adiga was arrested and produced before court. He has been remanded to judicial custody till Dec 3 Saturday.
