Mangaluru, May 24, 2026: In a swift operation, Panambur Police Station personnel rescued a man who allegedly attempted to end his life by jumping into the River Phalguni near Kuloor Bridge on Friday evening.
The man, said to be a farmer from a village near Shravanabelagola, was reportedly facing health and financial difficulties.

According to police, the man had left home on Friday morning without informing his family. Though relatives contacted him over phone and urged him to return, he allegedly stated that he intended to end his life.
After receiving information that he was near Panambur Beach, relatives alerted a retired police officer, who informed police inspector Salim Abbas around 5.30 pm.
Police immediately launched a search operation and attempted to counsel the man over phone. After nearly one-and-a-half hours of searching, the team traced him near Kuloor Bridge around 7 pm, allegedly preparing to jump into the river.
The police intervened in time, rescued him safely and brought him to the police station, where he was counselled and later reunited with his family.
The operation was led by inspector Salim Abbas along with sub-inspector Jnanashekar, ASI Subrahmanya and other police personnel.
