Palemar Bangalore, July 16: Minister for Ports Krishna J Palemar has dismissed reports that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa wanted him to resign over missing of seized iron ore from the Belekeri port.

Krishna PalemarRumours were abuzz in the corridors of Vidhana Soudha, on Thursday afternoon that the Chief Minister had asked Palemar to put in his papers to end to furore over missing of the seized  iron ore at Belekeri, by making Palemar to resign.

It is said the Chief Minister secured Palemar’s resignation on Wednesday evening itself. He had planned to announce his resignation when the House assembled on Thursday. However, intervention of BJP State President K S Eshwarappa and leaders of Sangh Parivar prevented the Chief Minister from taking Palemar’s resignation.

Palemar, when contacted, dismissed the reports as baseless. He said, “Ours is a disciplined party. Why will the Chief Minister ask me to resign? In case somebody should ask, it should be the State Party president. Nobody has asked me to quit the office. Also what is so big deal about resigning?”

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah, reacting to the reported developments said the Opposition demanded resignation of the Chief Minister and the Bellary Reddy brothers and not that of Palemar.
