Palemar inaugurates Adventure Festival in Jeppinamogaru

Mangalore, Jan 9, 2012 : Krishna J. Palemar, the district-in-charge minister of DK, inaugurated the Adventure Festival on the banks of the River Nethravathi in Jeppinamogaru in Mangalore on Jan 8 Sunday.

 

 

 

 

The Adventure Festival is being held as part of the 17th National Youth Festival, scheduled to be held in Mangalore soon.

The event, which is being organized by the General Thimmaiah National Adventure Academy, comprises water, air, and ground adventure sports and is available till Jan 11 for the public and from Jan 12 – 16 for the participants of the National Youth Festival.

N. Yogish Bhat, the deputy speaker of the Karnataka State Assembly; Seemanth Kumar, the Mangalore police commissioner; Dr. N. S. Channappa Gowda, the DC of DK district; Dr. Harish Kumar, the commissioner of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), and Dr. K. N. Vijay Prakash, the CEO of the ZP; and Y. R. Kantarajendra, the joint director of the sports department, were also present at the inauguration ceremony.

Panambur Beach will be the venue for para sailing from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and again from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Besides, the public can also enjoy sports such as jet skiing, kayaking, and banana ride near Kadekar Vaadurga Temple in Jeppinamogaru from 9:30 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. and again from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Nehru Maidan will be the venue for tyro line, rappelling, and traverse, said Jithendra Shetty, the administrative officer of the sports academy. He also said that the 41 personnel will be deployed to organize these events and kids below the age of 7 years will not be allowed to participate.

He also said that top priority has been given to safety and security issues.
