Over 65 percent voters cast their votes in the MCC election

Mangalore, March 7:  More than 65 percent voters cast their votes in the Mangalore City Corporation election held today while 65 to 70 percent voters registered their franchise in the election held for other Urban Local bodies in the Dakshina Kannada district. Kannur ward has recorded highest poling with 75.29%, while Bendore ward poling was just 47.35% in MCC.

 

 

 

 

 

The Voting was started at 7 a.m. and ended by 6PM. It was a lukewarm response in the early hours but picked up in the afternoon. Baring few verbal clashes, voting in the district has been largely peaceful. Counting of votes will take place Monday March 11.

A number of old age voters came out to caste their right in the Mangalore City Corporation election.  91 year old Christina Rodrigus casted her vote with the help of her son and daughter-in-Law in the 30 Kodialbail ward.  ‘Everyone should cast their vote iIn the interest of the nation’, said 90 year old Gopalakrishna Shetty after exercising his right in the jail road DIET polling booth.

DK Deputy Commissioner Mr. Prakash thanked the voters for exercising their rights and peaceful voting in the district.
