Mangalore, Mar 26, 2012: Several organizations, under the banner of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), walked for 12 kilometres from Panjimogaru to the heart of Mangalore to stage a protest in front of the Mangalore police commissioner’s office on March 26 Monday.
The protestors want the case of the double murder of a mother and a child in Panjimogaru to be handed over to the CCB, COD, or the CBI.
It may be recalled that Razia and her daughter Faima Zohra were murdered in broad daylight on June 28, 2011 in their house at Panjimogaru.
The protestors threatened that they will stage an indefinite protest in front of the commissioner’s office if there are no developments within a week.
Speaking on the occasion, Bharathi Bolar of Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane said that the murder has caused fear among the people in the locality as the murderer is still walking around free.
Dayanand Shetty, the DYFI secretary; Vasanth Achary, the CITU secretary; and Charan Panjimogaru, the SFI secretary, were also present.
The protestors also submitted a memorandum to Seemanth Kumar Singh, the Mangalore police commissioner, demanding a proper investigation of the case.
