Kasargod, Aug. 13, 2026: In a tragic turn of events, a young banker from Kasargod died by suicide at her rented residence in Hunsur, Karnataka, while reportedly on a video call, following which her fiance was found dead at a hotel in Kerala hours later.
The deceased have been identified as P. Anushree (25), a native of Poochakad near Kasargod, and her fiancé V. Amal (27), from Ambalathattu in Kannur. Both were employees of the State Bank of India (SBI). Anushree was posted at the Hunsur branch in Mysuru district, while Amal worked at an SBI branch in Ernakulam.
The couple, who were engaged to be married, were reportedly scheduled to tie the knot on December 26 next year.
The tragedy unfolded on Tuesday night when Anushree reportedly died by suicide at her rented accommodation in Hunsur while on a video call. After learning about her death, Amal was reportedly devastated and later took his own life at a hotel near Ernakulam North railway station.
The exact circumstances and possible reasons behind the deaths remain unclear.
Police in Hunsur and Kerala have registered cases and launched separate investigations into the incident.
