He said that units will be set up to receive reports regarding utilization of state and central government schemes for SC/ST beneficiaries. If the unit receives negative reports regarding any officials, the unit will take the required action against the official.

He also said that the unit bears the responsibility of monitoring the implementation of various government schemes and the utilization of funds by government officials on a weekly basis. The officials are required to provide the required documents and submit them to the Social Welfare Department for reviewing.

Revealing facts and figures, he said that six Gram Panchayaths of the 25 Gram Panchayats on a district have never implemented any government scheme, and most of the taluks utilize just 17 percent, 22 percent, and 37 percent of the funds earmarked for development of these communities.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA U. T. Khader said that those on the rowdy list are always released on anticipatory bail, after which they continue with their criminal activities. He said that if any erring Taluk Panchayat officer is suspended, the others must also learn a lesson. Stating that there are 8 notified and 15 non notified slums in the district, he added that no progressive work has been done to develop these slums. He also suggested that all the officials of a department must use only one account and any additional accounts must be frozen.

Labhu Ram, the SP of DK district; Udupi SP Ravikumar; DCP M. Muthuraya; ZP President Shailaja Bhat; DC Chennappa Gowda; and others were present at the review meeting.
